Who is responsible for product recall if the 50% grade has a safety issue?
In the event of a product safety or compliance issue, recall responsibility is defined by our FSSC 22000 / ISO 22000 recall procedure and the signed commercial contract. The 50% grade is covered by the same recall protocol.
Our Recall Procedure
| Step | Action | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Detection | Identify issue | Immediate |
| 2. Notification | Notify affected customers | Within 24 hours |
| 3. Investigation | Trace batch records | 2–5 business days |
| 4. Decision | Recall / hold / destroy | With customer + authority |
| 5. Execution | Coordinate return/replacement/destruction | Per plan |
| 6. Review | CAPA + procedure update | 30 days post-close |
Responsibility Framework
- Seller: If defect originates at our facility (spec, contamination, process), we manage and bear costs
- Buyer: If issue from improper storage/handling/repackaging, buyer manages
- Shared: We cooperate fully, provide traceability within 2 hours
We maintain complete batch-level traceability — identify and isolate any affected lot within hours. We strongly recommend a Quality Agreement specifying recall responsibilities before large orders.
