FAQ Header

What are the heavy metal limits and which testing standards apply?

Heavy metal testing is performed per batch and reported in the COA. All heavy metals comply with the most stringent global food safety standards — specifically the limits set by the US FDA, EFSA (EU), and Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). You select the regulatory standard that applies to your market, and we provide the corresponding COA.

Heavy Metal Limits (Food Grade)

MetalUS FDA (ppm)EU EFSA (ppm)Japan MHLW (ppm)
Lead (Pb)≤0.1≤0.1≤0.1
Arsenic (As)≤1.0≤0.5≤0.1
Cadmium (Cd)≤0.1≤0.1≤0.1
Mercury (Hg)≤0.1≤0.1≤0.05
All test results are within the above limits. For pharmaceutical or cosmetic applications, we can provide additional testing against USP <232>/<233> or ICH Q3D standards at a separate cost. Submit your target market and we will confirm the applicable specification sheet.
